Not as simple as it is for 5.0 cars...
The 2.3 MAF cars are distributorless, so an ignition swap is needed as well.
Or, the thunderbird ecu (LA3) can be converted to MAF, but that also requires some wiring and tuning changes with a J3 chip like Moates.
Or, supposedly the v8 ecu's can be converted to run the 2.3. I'm not aware of anyone who has done this though.
I converted to LA3 and then to MAF, and it worked fairly well.
In the future, I would like to try making a v8 ecu work, but who knows if I'll ever have that kind of time.
Are you planning to go turbo in the future?
