Got the heads done last month. Took 8 intakes, 4 exhausts, all new springs. The springs were so bad you could push them all almost to coil bind with your hands.
The block was bored .040 over and has some real expensive forged pistons. The shop guy sais he would have to bore it .060 to get the ridge out, true the cylinders, and be able to hone it. So I would have had to buy new cast pistons at about $400 or spend about $900 to replace the forged. Found another block in Renton. It is a four bolt bored .030 with no ridge. The person I got it from said he put about 2000 easy break in miles on it before he started thrashing. He put a roller cam in it and knew he had to change the dist. gear. He said that on his third 5000 pass the gear exploded and a piece went up pone of the cylinders and scratched it pretty good. My shop said they can get it out at 040 so I can use the forged pistons.
A couple months ago I met a guy about a mile from my house who does restorations and he was working on two Machs so I got a set of side stripes from him for $70 and I am waiting for him to get a factory tach.
